Introduction of Annapurna Base Camp Trek:

The trek to Annapurna Basecamp is one of the most popular and suitable to every age group and also considered as one of the best in Nepal. In terms of difficulty, this trek is categorized as average difficulty not challenging at Annapurna Circuit Trek. The best part of the trek is its varied scenic terrain, different cultural experiences and spectacular high viewpoints. It’s the quickest trekking route to Annapurna Basecamp, once our flight land in Pokhara airport, we drive up to a beautiful Gurung village called Ghandruk and then we start our hiking journey. From there the ascent is gradual, passing through monsoon rainforests where you should keep an eye out for local wildlife, and then also the unique rhododendron forests. This trek is also considered as cultural trek where you can explore the variety of villages along the way, each with different ethnic communities including Gurungs, Magar, and Thakali. Every ethnic group of peoples have their own distinct characteristics. To see the panoramic views of many 8000m peaks is one of the attraction of the trek, including the superb panoramic views of Annapurna (8,091m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Fishtail (6993m) and several other peaks.

Journey to Annapurna Base Camp Trek:

The trek starts from Ghandruk after a 3hrs drive from Pokhara airport. The trek goes through most spectacular high mountain amphitheatre, through charming Gurung villages and rhododendron forests. After passing through the couple of magar and gurung villages and rocky trail through forests, then we reach at Chhomrong and next day to Doban. We continue up a steep ravine, brings us to Hinko at 3,160m. Cross a ravine and a major avalanche track and climb through large boulders to Deorali at 3,230m and continue Climb across more avalanche paths, cross a moraine and a stream before reaching an area known as Machha-puchhare Base Camp at an altitude of 3700m. The route passes through some roofless shepherd’s huts alongside a moraine then climbs to the Base Camp, a collection of a few lodges on a knoll at 4,130m. There are magnificent views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna that towers above the sanctuary to the north-west.
