Introduction to Everest Base Camp Trek

Mount Everest, elevated at 8,848m (29,028ft) above sea level, reigns as the highest mountain on Earth. The mountain was climbed for the first time by New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary and local Sherpa Tenzin Norgay on May 29, 1953, and it has attracted mountaineers from all over the world since. The Everest area is known locally as Sagarmatha National Park. It is home to the famous Sherpa people, migrants from eastern Tibet who crossed over the Himalaya and settled here in the late 1400s and early 1500s. The trek to Everest Base Camp goes deep into the heart of the Himalaya. The mountain views are stunning, and the simplicity and hospitality of the Sherpa community are heart-warming. You will get to take in the awe-inspiring views of Mt. Everest and its sister’s mountains. You will also be visiting Sherpa villages and monasteries to gain insight into their culture and lifestyle. This is a beautiful trek in a spectacular region of Nepal.

EBC Trek - Journey

This classical Everest Base Camp trek into the Solu-Khumbu region begins with a spectacular mountain flight to Lukla & continually trekking along the Dudh Kosi ("MilkRiver"). After crossing the Namche Bazar” Sherpa headquarter/Capital” we will continue on to Tengboche with its beautiful Buddhist monastery. This small village is considered the spiritual center of the Khumbu area. We will gradually make our ascent to Dingboche (4,410m), Lobuche (4,910m) and finally along the glacial moraine to Gorakshep (5,140m) at the base of Kala Pattar (5,550m). Now you will have the option of a sunset or sunrise climb to the 5,550m' summit of Kala Pattar for a panoramic view of some of the world's highest mountains including Everest at 29,028'. We'll make the 3-hour trek on to Everest Base Camp where, depending on the season, you'll see mountaineering expeditions preparing for their ascent to the highest peak in the world, beginning with the spectacular Khumbu Icefall. Enjoy the holidays in the Khumbu region.

Sleep at Everest Base Camp

We offer you an exclusive option to spend over nights at Everest Base Camp with our Expedition climbers. Trek into EBC and sleep in a tent under the stars is some thing you may not experience in your lift time. Share the dining with your Expedition team, take your steps on the bottom of the Khumbu Icefall, share insight experiences and see what it's like to live at Everest Basecamp with climbers from around the World. This can be added to our normal EBC trek packages only for SPRING season with certain additional cost. Our Expedition team will be set up at Everest Basecamp from April 1st - June 5th, every year. If you'd like to have the experience of a lifetime get in touch with us ASAP.

We offer 1 overnight sleep at EBC with additional cost of USD 250.00 and also 2 overnights sleep at EBC with additional cost of USD 350.00, choose your BEST.

Fitness requirement for Everest Base Camp Trek

This kind of trek is challenging but doesn’t really require previous trekking and mountaineering experiences and also doesn’t require any technical experience. But if you have any previous experiences would be helpful. Your fitness is really important for this trek; therefore we strongly suggest preparing yourself in good physical condition.

You need to be trained at least for about 3 to 5 months to prepare yourself as a strong candidate. You can go to the fitness center every morning for about 1.5 hours, do hiking every weekend with increasing weights on your pack, manage some time for cycling for a couple of hours for 2 or 3 times a week. However, at the high altitude, there might be little symptoms of altitude illness like mild headache, fatigue, etc. but take it as normal and just drink enough water (4 – 5 liters) every day. On this trek, you need to be able to hike 4 – 8 hours over hilly terrain up to 5,500m of altitude with a daypack.

Does Experience Count?

Yes, previous experiences of similar grade treks would be convenient for the EBC trek. In case if you don't have much experience, preparing yourself with aerobic fitness, cardiovascular fitness, endurance training, physical conditioning will be beneficial.
To enjoy the trek to the fullest, your best physical condition is a must. Such that you are less likely to experience any form of altitude sickness and eventually can enjoy what the Everest Base Camp trekking offers.
With proper physical fitness, age is just a number. Even if you are around the age of 65 years, you can be eligible for this trek.

Our trekking guides will be constantly monitoring your conditions, signs, and symptoms throughout the trekking period - they will take a proper course of action for your safety.

Who said it's the end of the trekking season?! I completed the Everest Base Camp trek through Dream Himalaya Adventures at the end of December - Christmas Day on the way down - and the weather couldn't have been better. Clear blue skies and, ok, a cold night at -26 Celcius, but appropriate clothing layers overcame that. Reaching the base camp was satisfying, but more challenging was the higher Mt Kali Pathar which was a little deficient in oxygen, but fun all the same. My sincere thanks go to Dawa Sherpa Lama for so competently organising this trip for me, as well as later excursions to Chitwan wildlife park and beautiful Pokhara leading up to a memorable new years eve under Annapurna and the Fish-tale. Also, many thanks to Kami Sherpa for his expert guidance, care and friendship along the way. He was obviously well-known and respected along the track, selecting welcoming tea houses at which to overnight and displaying expert knowledge of the terrain and conditions. It was also lovely to meet Kami's family at Monjo in the early stages. I am extremely grateful to Dream Himalaya Adventures for taking care of all planning concerns and enabling me to have such an enjoyable trek and later experiences. I cannot praise them highly enough for their attention to all details on my journey. Kind regards,

We have been trekking with Dream Himilaya Adventures since long and have utilised their services for the last 4 treks.  This time for the Everest Marathon - 29.05.2022 we used their services from 16.05.2022 to 04.06.2022, they provided both of us support from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. Though Mr. Dawa Lama Sherpa was on a Everest Summit expeditiion, he made all the arrangements required for us sitting at EBC.  Mr. Rajesh from Kathmandu Office was very helpful.  As usual receiving us at Kathmandu Airport, taking us to Pashupathi Temple and the to Everest Marathon Event Organisers office to collect all necessary things from them.  Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, Porter Guide from Lukla to EBC through the route we requested for.  Mr. Suresh, The person accompanied us was very knowledgeable, could able to speak English to an extent and was very helpful.  Lodging at good Tea Houses, providing Vegetarian Food were at best.  The Down Jacket and Sleeping Bags provided for our stay at EBC was very good.
Mr. Suresh waited for us on the evening of 29.05.2022 at Namche Bazaar and received us and congratulated with the customery greeting scarfs.
Over all we enjoyed our association with Dream Himalayas and hope to continue our expeditions through them always as and when we visit Nepal.

We did the trek to EBC in March 2022 with Dream Himalaya Adventures. A trip like this will always have curveballs because of the environment and altitude - that's when you really appreciate people with brilliant local knowledge and the ability to sort thing out. Dawa and team were absolutely fantastic and I unreservedly recommend them to anyone.

Patrick & Geoff - Basecamp 2019

Dawa Sherpa and his team were exceptional in their care and aid of out Basecamp trek for 2019. It was an amazing experience not only to see and feel the mountains but also to speak to his crew and learn about the region and trekking/mountaineering in general. They were always ready to help whenever we needed.

We will certainly be coming back to Nepal and the Himalayas again. Most definitely through Dream Himalaya Adventures.

Wow wow wow!
Ok so the scenery was awesome - that’s a given! The food was nutritional and hot! Sleeping was easy because the body was ready for rest.
But the team at Dream Himalaya Adventures could not have been better selected. Nothing was a problem. Anything was possible. If you wanted it, you got it!
Their main aim is to get you to your destination and back safely and for you to enjoy the entire experience.
If we weren’t eating enough, they encouraged us to fuel up.
If we weren’t drinking enough “pani” (water), they stopped us for a drink break. If we walked too quickly (I’m amazed some of our team members could), they reminded us to walk “bistari bistari” (slowly slowly) to better acclimatise.
The guides are trained to spot when a trekker needs to slow down, drink and breathe more slowly.... and the great thing about that, is the opportunities to take photos and appreciate the marvellous scenery!
If you are lucky enough to get Singing Dawa you will be serenaded on the way up. If you have Ishi, he will play music to dance to as you descend. If you get Dorjee - he will walk behind you every step of the way making sure you are ok... hydrated....and taking it easy.
The porters are super human! Make sure you tip them! They are worth the weight they carry in gold! My word!
Dawa Sherpa (lama) has thought of everything.... from sightseeing tours around Kathmandu - to rest stops along the trek to Base Camp. More than this, he is able to use his influence as one of the most highly respected operators in Nepal to get those little extras no-one else can....
So if you are researching for a trek and are wondering whether to use a local business to guide you... DHA are more than that! Their treks are seemless - from the first point of contact through to post journey communication.
I would not use anyone else!
Thank you Dawa S Lama - to you and the entire amazing team at DHA.

I went for a Everest Base Camp trek with Dream Himlaya Adventures (DHA) team in May 2018. Being a very organised person (I prefer everything to be planned in detail and booked in advance before I travel), I was a bit skeptic and nervous about the kind of arrangements that DHA would have done. But I when I got there, I was pleased and surpised to see the amount of planning that DHA team had done and the professionalism that they showed at every step of our journey.
We had two tour guides (Tenzin and Pasang) supported by two porters (Santosh and Astha) all of them were very helpful, professional and were very accommodaitng of all our needs.
I highly recommend DHA for your hiking needs.

My friend Michelle and I recently undertook the epic journey to Everest Base Camp.  Although an arduous trek, the magnificent scenery and embracing nature of the Nepalese people made it an unforgettable adventure I feel privileged to have experienced.  We connected with Dream Himalaya Adventures over a year before we arrived in Nepal.  Dawa’s efficient and professional service in the planning process was welcomed and reassuring, as was the personable welcome and briefing we received upon arrival in Kathmandu.

On our trek, special mention goes to our guide, Tendi Sherpa.  He is a skilled mountaineer whose passion for the mountains is infectious.  Administratively he ensured everything ran smoothly but more importantly, when the going got tough, it was his compassionate care that we fully depended upon.  He added tremendous value to the enjoyment of our Everest experience.

I highly recommend the service offered by Dream Himalaya Adventures and hope to undertake one of their other travel offerings in the future.
