In March 2017, our Managing Director Mr. Dawa Sherpa Lama had the honor of visiting Manila, Philippines, to participate in two engaging and well-received talk shows. He was accompanied by our close Filipino friends Dennis Lopez and Romy Garduce—with Romy being celebrated as the first Filipino to conquer all Seven Summits, a remarkable achievement in the world of mountaineering.
The first event was hosted at the popular ROX Store, drawing an enthusiastic audience of around 60 participants. The second talk show took place at the Lagalag Store, where a similar number of adventure enthusiasts gathered once again. Many attendees were passionate members of the University of the Philippines Mountaineers (UPM), one of the most respected and active outdoor organizations in the country.
Throughout the sessions, Mr. Dawa Sherpa Lama delivered insightful presentations covering a wide range of topics, including:
The audiences were highly engaged, showing great excitement and curiosity about Nepal’s trekking routes, climbing peaks, and the overall Himalayan adventure experience. Many expressed a strong interest in planning their own trekking and climbing journeys to Nepal.
In addition to adventure-focused discussions, Mr. Dawa also shared rich knowledge about:
These cultural insights provided participants with a deeper appreciation of the people behind Nepal’s world-renowned mountain tourism.
The warm hospitality, meaningful interactions, and shared love for the mountains made the 2017 Manila talk shows a memorable and impactful experience—further strengthening the connection between Nepal and the vibrant Filipino outdoor community.
